The President

The President oversees the institution's management. They chair the meetings of the General Assembly of the Bar Presidents and the Board of Directors, and supervise all of AVOCATS.BE's activities.

The Vice-President is elected through a separate ballot and has a deliberative vote. They become President at the end of the two-year term of the President whose vice-presidency they held.

The Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of the President, the Vice-President, and eight directors elected by the General Assembly from among former Bar Presidents or members of the Bar Councils.

Their term lasts two years and is renewable twice for directors.

The former President attends the Board of Directors meetings, without a deliberative vote, for the year following the end of their term.

The Operations Director attends all meetings of the Board of Directors and the General Assembly, where they are responsible for drafting the minutes.

You can contact the Board of Directors at info@obfg.be.

The General Assembly

The General Assembly is composed of all the Bars, represented by their current Bar Presidents.

Members of the Board of Directors are ex-officio members with an advisory vote. The President of the Bar of the Court of Cassation or their representative, a member of their Bar Council, also sits on the General Assembly with an advisory vote.

This is where the major strategic directions of AVOCATS.BE are discussed and decided.
