Since the law of 21 June 2006, disciplinary functions are no longer exercised by the Bar Councils but by separate disciplinary councils. There is one per Court of Appeal jurisdiction, and a single appellate disciplinary council for all the bars of AVOCATS.BE.
How to file a complaint
A complaint is not addressed directly to the disciplinary council. It is filed with the President of the Bar (Bâtonnier) to which the lawyer in question belongs, who investigates the case and decides whether to refer it to the council. See Appeal to the Bâtonnier.
